Potash salt mine in Perm Region catches fire, miners evacuated

MOSCOW, Oct 16 (PRIME) -- Miners are being evacuated from Russian fertilizer maker Uralkali’s Solikamsk potash salt mine in the Perm Region, which caught fire, a representative of the region’s emergency services told PRIME on Monday.

A total of 170 miners have been now evacuated, while 127 people remain underground, he said.

Plastic pipes caught fire at the depth of 400 meters.
